Laura will be sharing about how through Compassionate Living we all can play a vital role in changing the landscape of Sacramento.
Laura believes that a person must learn how to die in order to learn how to live. In her late-20s, Laura earned her ministerial license after an intensive two-year seminary training. She went on to be a grief counselor, pastor and seminar rector. Over the last 30 years, she’s officiated many hospital healings, last rites, memorial services, weddings and baptisms. Her dedication to the art of living and dying inspired her to develop the Divine Spark Method in 2010. She is also a patented inventor, best-selling author and social entrepreneur. She is the founder of Chill Sacramento and the cofounder with Joan Marie of Compassionate Capital Region.
Marlene will be sharing the moving and personal backstory of Joshua’s House.

David has been a therapist in the massage and bodywork industry since January of 2007. He began spreading his learning wings and expanding his offerings by gaining certification in Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Ortho-Bionomy Isometric Release, Ortho-Bionomy Phase 6, Ortho-Bionomy Position Release, Touch Therapy for the Terminally Ill, Hospital Based Lymphedema Treatment, Oncology Massage, and Fibromyalgia Treatment. He is also a Reiki II Practitioner of the Usui Method of Natural Healing.
Through all his training, the area that resonated with him the deepest was the Touch Therapy for the Terminally Ill. After integrating a gentle form of circulation massage into the pr4ogram and expanding the care to include the critically and chronically ill, he put it all to use, teaming up with Hoffmann Hospice (a nonprofit hospice organization in Bakersfield and Kern County in California) as a volunteer therapist. Once the hospice leaders recognized the fantastic results David was having with every client he visited, they began having David train all t heir Certified Nursing Aides in the Touch Therapy for the Critically, Chronically & Terminally Ill modality. David has worked with hundreds of critically, chronically, and terminally ill clients, and in 2010 he was blessed with the opportunity to take on the directorship of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Healing Hands ~ Healing Hearts.
His own heart is driven with a passion to see that he and the dedicated, passionate team of professionals along his side will establish at least one branch of Healing Hands, Healing Hearts in every state in the USA and eventually around “The Great Blue Ship that sails around the Mighty Sun” (lyric borrowed from his favorite ELO song) before he transitions from his Earthbound body.

Sarah K. Grace - Intuitive Healing and Wellness
My journey in senior care started 15 years ago when I walked into a Care Facility looking for an opportunity to contribute positively to the care of the senior population living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of cognitive impairment. My strong yearning to “connect” with the person behind the labels of the “disease” led me to start my Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care Journey as a Life Enrichment Manager with Sunrise Senior Living, an organization’s whose mission “To Champion the Quality of Life for All Seniors” is in full alignment with my own core values: Respect, unconditional love, compassion, and being the “voice” for those who are unable to advocate for themselves.
Over the past 15 years I received extensive training in Non-Medicinal Interventions and behavior management as well as Therapeutic Program Design. I received training through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. I believe whole-heartedly in the Whole-Person approach to "care". I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist with specialization in Myofascial Release, Touch Therapy and Pain Management. My focus is the integration of natural healing modalities with dementia Care and to increase community engagement (families and caregivers) through education and collaboration to addresses the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of our seniors— by sharing life stories, sensory stimulation, and individualized support.
I encourage caregivers to continue learning, expanding their knowledge, and honing their skills to become compassionate practitioners, advocates, and visionaries who utilize research and evidence-based practices to enrich the health, well-being, and quality of life of our “Best Friends” living with ALZ disease. It is not just important work. It is a life “calling”.
